Every morning I start my day out with a fruit and vegetable smoothie.  Usually the ingredients I add are:  organic raspberries, organic strawberries, organic blueberries, a hand full of kale, 1/2  a banana, 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, 2 tablespoons of organic maca powder, 1 tablespoon of raw organic cacao powder, a tablespoon of chlorella powder and a few coconut water blended over ice.  Below are some of my favorite supplements and some information on their amazing healing properties.

Raw Organic Maca Powder has been praised for centuries for its adaptogenic (stress-regulating) properties.  This unique powder helps the body control a wide array of energy-altering functions, from focus and attention to libido and fertility.  The Incan civilization of the Andes first cultivated this root as long ago as 2,000 years.  The Incans considered it a gift from the gods and even used it as currency throughout history.  Maca contains important vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals that neutralize acids in the body when ingested.  Maca also contains 8 of the 9 essential amino acids – protein building components that the body must obtain from external food sources. This power root contains fiber, vitamin E and C, calcium, potassium, iron as well as immune boosting components known as glucosinolates.

Raw Organic Cacao Nibs originated in the tropical terrain of South-Central Mexican 1200 to 300 BCE.  The Olmec’s domesticated the cacao tree, paving its use for the Mayan, Toltec and Aztec civilizations which populated the area over the next 1,000 years.  Cacao nibs are loaded with magnesium, antioxidants, and brain stimulating chemicals.  Cacao helps the body absorbs calcium, fight diseases, known as a longevity substance and stabilize moods.

Raw Organic Chia Seeds are filled with more Omega- 3 fatty acids than salmon, more calcium per fluid ounce than milk, and significant amounts of fiber, iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, B-Vitamins and antioxidants. Chia seeds are also one of the most naturally balanced sources of healthy fats, containing the ideal ratio of Omega-3 to Omega 6 fatty acids.  Their complex nutritional profile and high fiber content help to stabilize blood sugar levels, a quality that makes them excellent mix-ins with high sugar and starchy fruits and vegetables.  They are native to Central Americas, and literally translate to “strength”, in Mayan.  This seed has been known for centuries as a powerful energy-giving super food.

Raw Organic Goji Berries are native to the Himalayan highlands of China and Tibet, this berry is one of nature’s most nutritionally complete foods.  These “red diamonds,” as they are called in their homeland contain 18 different amino acids, including 8 of the 9 essential food based amino acids that our bodies cannot manufacture on their own.  Goji berries also contain 21 trace minerals including: zinc, copper, calcium, germanium, selenium, and phosphorus.  Goji berries are the richest source of carotenoids of all known foods on the planet of earth, containing even more carotene per serving than carrots.  Goji berries also contain 500 times the vitamin C content per weight of oranges, ranking them secondly only to camu camu berries as the richest source of vitamin C.  In addition Goji berries also contain vitamins B1, B2, B6 and vitamin E.  These berries have had an integral role in their use in Chinese medicine; they are used to help support eye, liver, and kidney function.  They use dates back to 5,000 years and is said to increase the “chi,”  or life energy for those who eat these super food berries. This berry is also known as a longevity substance and in recent times the legendary Master Li Qing Yuen a Chinese herbalist who is credited with living to the ripe old age of 252 years old.  Goji berries were something that he consumed every day and is credited for his unsurpassed long lived life.
