Daily Rituals ~Simple strategies to Improve your everyday life

In the past religious rituals were a part of every day life.  Based on the season and different days of the year to give honor to specific days were referred to as Saint days; there were many different religions that honored various gods and goddesses. In the far East dragons and Chinese New Years livened the evening sky with lanterns and fireworks. History has told us the stories of each culture and religion and rituals that were long ago followed by many have now fizzled into past behaviors of previous centuries.

Present day man struggles to find a healthy balance of  behaviors and enough physical/mental balance.  There are so many distractions that prevent us on a daily basis to select healthier choices.  I have discovered that the way to realign our over scheduled lives and find more peace in our day can be attained by daily rituals and mantras to help me connect with my spiritual side.  An example of certain rituals that I find useful would be:

1) Wake each morning and give thanks for a new beginning. Slowly stretch your body and take time for slow, relaxed deep breaths.  Waking up should not be by an alarm clock, I believe that how you rise dictates the general mood for the day and the harsh jerking awake can lead to a day with anxiety and stress as opposed to a more gentle awakening.  Make your way to the kitchen. . .

2) Each morning start your body's re-hydration by drinking a warm, not hot glass of filtered water with a lemon, lime or a tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar.  This gently awakens your internal systems, hydrating them after a long 8 hour rest.  It also helps to balance your PH levels, help detoxify the body and is a relaxing nurturing act to do each morning for your body.

3)  Drinking a green drink for breakfast has been something that energizes your body and the easily absorbed vitamin infusion of greens such as kale the most nutrient dense salad variety helps to purify the blood with it's high chlorophyll content. Mixing the greens with a banana, some berries, and powdered supplements such as: chia seeds and flax seeds for omega 3's, chlorella powder contains the highest amount of chlorophyll of any known plant, raw cacoa powder is an amazing antioxidant and longevity substance, raw maca powder for reproductive support and energy/longevity properties, spirulina for a complete amino acid with a high protein content.  There and many different supplements to experiment with. I also mix these with coconut water which is a rich source of natural electrolytes.

4) Before approaching your destination a block away start a slow breathing exercise.  Inhale slowly through your nose and exhale through his nose, slow controlled breathes, project how you would like to be seen while at your destination.  Imagine a strong, confident, relaxed version of yourself, with collective thoughts and a positive disposition.  This is your time to visualize your future and you will find that with some work and daily practice this visualizing exercise really works and it works because you believe it.  The power of the mind is amazing and it's power can be harnessed.

5) Don't sit at your desk for prolonged periods of time.  I suggest drinking filtered water with lemon and an herbal tea such as green tea or your preferred tea type.  While sipping on your drink your focus and clarity will become apparent and because you are keeping yourself constantly hydrated you will need to use the restroom which is great because it get's you out of your seat.  This also prevent's mindless snacking because most of the time when we think out bodies are hungry we are confusing a signal for thirst with a signal for hunger.

6) Take time for a nature walk during the afternoon and reflect on your day.  Give thanks for the beautiful earth that you live on and enjoy the beauty that it beholds.  Quiet time is something that we can never get enough of, especially for those of us who live in busy cities.  Our detachment from nature can be a major cause of depression and reconnecting to the outdoors does wonders for improvements in mood.  The fresh air and oxygenation of your body will also help naturally refresh your body.
