I have
created this blog to help others like myself who care deeply for their health
but are like the average American pressed for time, work an eight hour job and
have children or other duties to attend to.
I always used my busy schedule as an excuse for not being able to make
time for exercise until I reached my all time low one hot summer day in
2012. I was at a family gathering that
day pool side when I was tagged in a Facebook post and the picture made
me take a second look at my appearance. I knew I was not my average weight but looking
at the image of what I looked like to others really shook me to my core and
made me realize that I needed to change my lifestyle not only for my appearance
but for my health. I set out on a
wellness venture and have not turned back since. Little by little I made small changes to my
daily routine to include two 15 minute walks on my breaks at work, a 30 minute
walk at lunch and drastically changed my diet.
Wellness is a journey not a destination, I tell myself this every day,
changes don't happen over night but if we stay dedicated anything can be
achieved. This blog is about my
experiences with what worked for me and what has not worked, ultimately in that
two year period I have lost 80 pounds. I am not fixated on numbers, I
don't like the scale or counting calories, becoming healthy is about so much
more than eating a certain number of calories per day, it's about getting a
rainbow of nutrients from various plant sources as well as antibiotic free/free
range meats, drinking pure filtered lemon water and a good quality green tea
daily, setting intentions for your day, week, month year and most importantly
moving your body with your preferred exercise method. Every day is a new beginning, if you stray
from your wellness routine you just get back on the next day and do what you
can to be the healthiest version of yourself.
What it all comes down to is happiness and if you are not in your best
physical, mental, spiritual shape then you will be unhappy in the form of anxiety,
depression, mindless eating patterns the list goes on and on. No one is perfect, I wish the word did not
exist because we strive for this unachievable goal and it is self destructive
to compare ourselves with others.
Everyone is on their own journey and it is up to us to find what makes
us the happiest and most fulfilled. I
have set out on this path to help motivate others and share with them what has
worked best for me on my path of health.
If you would like to join me on this quest for happiness I would love to
hear any tips, comments or suggestions you have. My blog has officially started today and I am
filled with enthusiasm for what the unknown future holds for myself and others
like me. Lets get out into nature and
challenge our bodies and spirits!
Wow wow wee. Really nice entry, Carly. Thanks for sharing part of your journey with me. You help motivate me to press onward and upward : )
